Throwing a closed form is an excellent way to make the perfect catch-all jar. You will learn how to throw, trim, and glaze a closed form, and how to create two different lid styles - a flange lid and a gallery lid. Plus how to make knobs in a closed form, a glaze trailing technique, and more.
In the Main Form, you'll learn how to make a knob-less jar with a flange lid. This is a lid with a raised ledge underneath that sits inside the jar to keep it securely in place. On the Alternate Form, you'll make a closed form with a knob and gallery lid. This lid features a small ledge on the shoulder of the jar that it rests on to keep it in place. After trimming your lidded jar, Ruthie will show you how to glaze a different way, by glaze trailing with another glaze color.
In this 12 video course Ruthie will take you along the entire process of throwing, trimming, and glazing two different styles of Closed Form Lidded Jars.
